Community guidelines
sayulita.co works because people tell each other the truth about this town. A few plain rules keep it that way.
Post what you saw yourself
Review places you’ve been to, and post photos you took. Say when you went, and be specific: what you ordered, what the waves were like, what the next person should know.
The board has no replies and no classifieds: it’s a record of the town tied to places. Notices (clean-ups, turtle releases, a lost dog) are for Locals and owners, dated, and come down after their date.
How reviews work
- One review per place every six months. Places change, so after six months you can review again; your earlier review stays, with its date.
- You can change a review for 48 hours after posting it. After that it stands as written, marked “Edited” if you changed it.
- “Stayed here” and “Was here” appear when your trip on sayulita.co shows it: the place was your stay, or you kept it in a trip that had started. We work that out from your own trip; nobody can add it by hand.
- Owners can reply once to each review of a place they’ve claimed, and change or take back the reply. They can’t edit or remove your review, and they can’t review their own place.
- Only reviews written here. We never copy in reviews or ratings from Google, TripAdvisor or anywhere else, and stars only show once a place has three reviews.
Be fair and be kind
Criticism is welcome; insults aren’t. Nothing hateful, sexual or threatening, and nothing about someone’s private life. Leave out phone numbers, addresses of private homes, and children’s faces.
No paid or swapped reviews
Owners and staff can’t review their own place. Businesses are welcome to ask guests for a review, but not to offer anything in return. No links, ads or promotions in posts; claimed businesses can post updates of their own on their page.
How we check
Posts go up straight away. We read everything new every day, and anything reported twice is hidden until we’ve looked at it. We remove posts that break these rules and stop accounts that keep doing it. Locals are marked once we’ve confirmed they live here.
Your posts are yours
You can delete anything you posted from Your trip. By posting, you let us show it on sayulita.co and in our emails, with your first name and last initial. See the privacy notice for what we keep.
