Vance becomes a hurricane far to the south, with no watches on the coast
The National Hurricane Center says Vance, about 930 km south-southeast of Manzanillo early Friday, should become a major hurricane tonight while drifting north-northwest. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect; its swells are due to reach southwestern Mexico from the weekend.
