  Schools usually march in a civic and sports parade for the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution. We haven't confirmed the local route or time.

  Bucerías

  Bucerías marks the feast of the patron saint of musicians, when local bands and mariachis play in town.

  Our Lady of Guadalupe festivities

  Main plaza and parish, Sayulita

  Nightly pilgrimages by neighbourhood groups, with floats, music and fireworks, process to the church on the plaza. On December 12 expect early mañanitas with mariachi and a community meal.

  Fiestas Guadalupanas

  Downtown Puerto Vallarta to Our Lady of Guadalupe church

  Hundreds of processions with floats, folkloric dancers and mariachis walk to the downtown church each day. The biggest, on December 12, draws about 20,000 people.

  Humpback whale-watching season

  Banderas Bay

  Humpbacks winter in Banderas Bay to mate and give birth. This year's federal notice sets the official tour season from December 8 to March 23; whales are often seen from shore earlier.

  The municipality marks the anniversary of its founding in Valle de Banderas, its seat. The tourism office lists the date; the programme hasn't been published yet.

  Neighbourhoods around Sayulita

  Nine nights of posadas, neighbourhood gatherings with songs, piñatas and ponche, lead up to Christmas Eve, which ends with fireworks.

  Malecón and Romantic Zone, Puerto Vallarta

  An urban 10K obstacle race from the Malecón through downtown and the Romantic Zone, crossing sand, cobbles and steep stairs.

  New Year's Eve beach party at Four Seasons Punta Mita

  Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita

  Dinner by the pool, then a beach party on Cuevas Beach with live music and a midnight toast. Non-guests can attend with a reservation.

  Malecón near El Faro, Puerto Vallarta

  The city puts on free concerts, fireworks and a drone light show along the Malecón. The 2026 line-up hasn't been announced.

  Bakeries and homes, Sayulita

  Families share a rosca de reyes, a ring-shaped sweet bread; whoever finds the hidden figurine hosts a tamale party on February 2.

  Our Lady of Peace patron saint festival

  Bucerías

  Bucerías honours its patron saint with a boat pilgrimage on the bay, a peace torch run, and cultural and sports events in town.

  Sayulita town fair

  Baseball field and plaza, Sayulita

  Sayulita's annual fair has rides, games and food stalls at the baseball field, with performances on the plaza in the evenings. It runs in late February around Flag Day (24 Feb); the 2027 programme isn't out yet.

  San Pancho Music Festival

  Plaza del Sol, San Pancho

  Three evenings of local and visiting bands on San Pancho's plaza, run by a volunteer committee. It is held in late February; the 2027 dates aren't confirmed yet.

  Flag Day parade and jaripeo

  The plaza and the fairground, Sayulita

  Schoolchildren parade and salute the flag on the plaza on Flag Day, which falls during the town fair; the rodeo is usually held the same day.

  Banderas Bay Regatta

  Banderas Bay, from Nuevo Vallarta

  A cruiser regatta that has run for more than 30 years, with racing on the bay by day and parties ashore afterwards. Watch the boats from the beaches along the bay.

  Semana Santa (Holy Week)

  Sayulita and the whole coast

  The busiest week of the year on this coast: Mexican families fill the beaches, prices go up and rooms book out. Plan ahead and expect crowds from Palm Sunday to Easter.

  Independence Day: El Grito and the parade

  The plaza, Sayulita

  The cry of independence is given on the plaza late on 15 September, with music and food stalls, followed by a parade on the 16th. The plaza is closed to cars.
